Excel Tips Tutorial: How to Convert Numbers to Text
Microsoft Excel provides numerous options for users to format cells using various cell formatting features. Formatting cells to diverse types is useful for different users in different needs. For example, if any user wants a column of data where all values are sales figures to be converted to a accounting number format (say $) in order to prepare a yearly sales report, she can easily do it by using cell formatting option.
Similarly converting numbers to text is necessary if user wants to keep those data safe keeping it from being used for calculation accidentally.
Here we will show an example of numbers formatting to text.
First select or highlight cells having number values which you want to convert to text.
Go to number section of the sub-menu and click the drop down menu.
Now click Text from the categories. The numbers in the cells are converted to text.
Further to formatting, you can convert any kind of data to a different type like date, currency, time etc.. by following similar steps.
