You are able to move Excel charts to different locations within an Excel worksheet, to different worksheets, to chart sheets and even to different Excel workbooks.

How to Move an Excel Chart within a Worksheet

To move an Excel chart within a worksheet simply select the entire chart, hold your cursor over the chart border, and while holding down your click button move your chart to the desired location. If you want to move your chart to an area that is not viewable on your screen you can either zoom out and move your chart, or you can drag your chart out of the viewable area and Excel will automatically scroll through the worksheet.

How to Move an Excel Chart to a Different Worksheet

If you want to move your Excel chart to a different worksheet you must cut and then paste it in a different worksheet. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Select your entire chart.

Step 2: In the Home tab ribbon click on the Cut button.

Step 3: Activate the worksheet you want to move the chart to by selecting the worksheet tab. You may have to create a new worksheet.

Step 4: Now that destination worksheet is activated simple click on the paste button and your chart will be moved to the destination worksheet.

How to Move your Chart to a Chart Sheet

If you would rather have your chart inserted into a chart sheet instead of embedded on a worksheet follow the steps below.

Step1:Select your chart.

Step 2: Click on the Design tab under Chart Tool.

Step 3: In the Location group click on the Move Chart button and the Move Chart dialog box will appear.

Step 4: In the Move Chart dialog box click on the New Chart radial button and then in the text box insert the name you want to give to your chart sheet. Click OK and you chart will now be moved to chart sheet.

To move and Excel chart to a different workbook simply cut/copy and paste the chart into the new workbook. The chart will still be linked to the original workbook for its data so both workbooks will need to be saved to the same hard drive or on the same computer network.
